STORYTELLER |

A rich love of story and the journey of experiencing one; a love of the language of music and where it can take people -- these are what drove me to composition. Before music, I wrote stories all of the time about all kinds of things. Creative output has always been a major part of my life and creating worlds or people and conflicts/resolution fascinated me. I've always loved film, my wife often jokes that I have "seen every movie ever" which isn't true but I admit I've seen a lot. At one point in my life I even considered becoming a screenwriter, I even had a shareware copy of "Movie Magic Screenwriter" that I barely understood how to use. Eventually I moved into music but that foundation and love of the art of filmmaking lead me to film scoring.

MUSICIAN
|
I've poured my time and study into writing and orchestration and telling stories with music. I've worked on short and feature films as well as indie games and promotional/trailer videos. While my main focus is orchestral scoring I also have a background in rock and pop music having spent several years as a guitarist in a rock band. Diversity in genre is one of my strong suits as it makes me very adaptable to whatever is needed. I've headed up bands with original material where I developed songwriting and arranging skills. A lifelong interest in classical music pushed me into writing for orchestra and my desire to understand every facet of something is why I began learning absolutely everything I could about the orchestra. I'm not a university student, I began teaching music right out of high school so I've learned composition and orchestration by a combination of trial and error and personal study. My goal is to be the absolute best composer, which is impossible to reach as music is a lifelong study and development. It's a good goal to have, because I always want to be better every day.
